			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Diabetics must choose any food they eat very carefully, as each food choice they make has a profound impact on their overall health on a meal-to-meal basis. Diabetes affects people of all ages, both genders, from all walks of life and backgrounds. Untreated, it can cause wounds to heal slowly, infections take longer to cure, blindness, and kidney failure. Diet is one of the most important ways of controlling diabetes, and a vegetarian lifestyle with its emphasis on low fat, high fiber, and nutrient-rich foods is very complementary. </p>

<p>&#13;<br />
Affecting more than 30 million people worldwide, this disease inhibits the body from properly processing foods. Usually, most of the food we eat is digested and converted to glucose, a sugar which is carried by the blood to all cells in the body and used for energy. The hormone insulin then helps glucose pass into cells. But diabetics are unable to control the amount of glucose in their blood because the mechanism which converts sugar to energy does not work correctly. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Insulin is either absent, present in insufficient quantities or ineffective. As a result glucose builds up in the bloodstream and leads to problems such as weakness, inability to concentrate, loss of co-ordination and blurred vision.  If the correct balance of food intake and insulin isn&#8217;t maintained, a diabetic can also experience blood sugar levels that are too low. If this state continues for a prolonged period of time, it can lead to coma and even death.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Type 2 diabetes is found to be only half as common as a cause of death amongst the largely vegetarian Seventh Day Adventist population as in the general population. An average vegetarian diet closely matches the British Diabetic Association&#8217;s recommendations for diabetic patients. Vegetarian diets tend to be high in complex carbohydrates and dietary fibre, which has a beneficial effect on carbohydrate metabolism, lowering blood sugar levels. The leanness of vegetarians also contributes to reduced incidence of diabetes. Diabetes is often associated with raised blood cholesterol levels and a vegetarian diet confers protection against this.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Though incurable, diabetes can be successfully controlled through diet and exercise, oral medications, injections of insulin, or a combination. Instead of counting calories diabetics must calculate their total carbohydrate intake so that no less than half their food is made up of complex carbohydrates. Many diabetic vegetarians have discovered that as a result of their meatless diet, they&#8217;ve had to use insulin injections less, which gives them a feeling of power and control over their disease.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kettlebell training has become perhaps my favorite workout. Why? You get not only a total body workout for conditioning, fat loss, lean muscle gain not to mention cardio in a very short (20 minute) workout.</p>

<p>I am a long time weight training guy and I still love my weight training workouts. I just started using kettlebells about 7 months ago. kettlebell training has a whole different affect on your body.</p>
<p>The unique value of kettlebells is derived from ballistic (fast exercise) work such as: snatches, swings, cleans, and jerks In addition, to giving your incredible muscular endurance when done in high repetitions, with a proper nutrition plan any excess fat that you have will burn off rapidly.</p>
<p>Is kettlebell training the be all end all of working out? No, it is simply a very effective way to train and enhance whatever program you are on.</p>
<p>Which brings me to part two of today&#8217;s article Bodyweight exercises. The great part about bodyweight workouts is? No equipment. That doesn&#8217;t mean that they are not a very effective form of exercise.</p>
<p>Most people don&#8217;t give much thought to bodyweight workouts, but some of the toughest exercises I&#8217;ve ever done have used only my bodyweight. The two that come to mind immediately are the Pistol Squat and the 1-arm pushup. You have to be very strong and fit to do either of those exercises.</p>
<p>So let me give you a great workout you can do at home with just 1 kettlebell and body weight exercises.</p>
<p>1) Kettlebell Swings &#8211; The swing has been called be some the best single exercise there is.</p>
<p>2) Push-ups &#8211; That&#8217;s right the old standby, standard position, feet elevated, hands close together or the one handed version.</p>
<p>3) Kettlebell Clean and Press &#8211; clean the kettlebell keep your elbow tight to your body and press. Do a clean before each press.</p>
<p>4) Bodyweight Squat &#8211; Prisoner squat, split squat, pistol squat</p>
<p>Well there you have it yes only 4 exercises. remember I don&#8217;t care what your personal trainer or the fitness magazines say more is not better.</p>
<p>Now with this workout you can do the exercises in bodybuilder style do all your sets of one exercise then move on to the next. Or do them as a complex one set of each go right to the next till you have done all four.</p>

Big gyms are nice but when you can get a killer workout at home without the overhead of getting to and from the gym. In this chest workout we are going to do pushups, then with no rest immediately do flys, then with no rest immediately do dumbbell press. Make sure and use a much lighter weight than you usually would on the flys and dumbbell press because after the pushups you wont have much left in you. After doing this set of three exercises, wait 2-5 minutes and do it again. Do 5-8 sets like this and you will be sore the next day. As with all dumbbell exercises,form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don&#8217;t use too much weight, if you can&#8217;t do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud &#8220;one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand&#8221; on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn&#8217;t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you <b>&#8230;</b></p>

You might have a general idea that eating a vegetarian diet is more healthy for you. But do you really know how much less the incidence is of certain types of cancers among vegetarians?</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Vegetarian diets are naturally low in saturated fat, high in fiber, and replete with cancer-protective phytochemicals helps to prevent cancer. Large studies in England and Germany have shown that vegetarians are about 40 percent less likely to develop cancer compared to meat-eaters. In the U.S., studies of Seventh-Day Adventists, who are largely lacto-ovo vegetarians, have shown significant reductions in cancer risk among those who avoided meat. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Similarly, breast cancer rates are dramatically lower in nations, such as China, that follow plant-based diets. Interestingly, Japanese women who follow Western-style, meat-based diets are eight times more likely to develop breast cancer than women who follow a more traditional plant-based diet. Meat and dairy products contribute to many forms of cancer, including cancer of the colon, breast, ovaries, and prostate. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Harvard studies that included tens of thousands of women and men have shown that regular meat consumption increases colon cancer risk by roughly 300 percent. High-fat diets also encourage the body&#8217;s production of estrogens. Increased levels of this sex hormone have been linked to breast cancer. A recent report noted that the rate of breast cancer among premenopausal women who ate the most animal (but not vegetable) fat was one-third higher than that of women who ate the least animal fat. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
A separate study from Cambridge University also linked diets high in saturated fat to breast cancer. One study linked dairy products to an increased risk of ovarian cancer. The process of breaking down the lactose (milk sugar) evidently damages the ovaries. Daily meat consumption triples the risk of prostate enlargement. Regular milk consumption doubles the risk and failure to consume vegetables regularly nearly quadruples the risk.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Vegetarians avoid the animal fat linked to cancer and get abundant fiber, vitamins, and phytochemicals that help to prevent cancer. In addition, blood analysis of vegetarians reveals a higher level of natural killer cells,specialized white blood cells that attack cancer cells.</p>
